About this course
This Entry Level 3 Functional Skills English qualification will enable learners to positively demonstrate their ability at reading, writing, speaking, listening, and communicating in English. At this level, learners will be able to display their competence in English by listening, understanding and responding to verbal communications in a range of familiar contexts; acquire an understanding of everyday words including their uses and effects, apply this understanding in different contexts; accurately read straightforward texts encountered in everyday life and work; write straightforward texts with clarity and effectiveness, and demonstrate a sound grasp of spelling, punctuation and grammar.

Many courses and employers require individuals to possess a certain maths level. When sat at Level 2, Functional Skills English will offer individuals the opportunity to gain alternative qualifications that are equivalent to a GCSE grade 4 pass. These qualifications can then lead to higher level apprenticeships and certain employment.

Yes, all learners are required to sit an online BKSB initial assessment prior to attending classes. This ensures PSA develops your unique learning journey by only considering the stronger and weaker areas of your results. Therefore, only teaching you what you need to know, not what you already know.

There is no time limit for you to complete your English Functional Skills qualification. However, a minimum of 55 hours for each qualification must be recorded before you can sit your exams.

As your exams are conducted on demand and online at our training centre, this gives you and your tutor the flexibility to decide when you are ready to sit your exams. Unlike GCSEs, there is no set calendar date, all we require is 24 hours notice to schedule your exam.

Yes, all learners are provided with one free opportunity to resit their Functional Skills English qualification.

Yes, there are a limited amount of car parking spaces outside the training centre. If possible, it is advisable to car share with colleagues who may be attending the same training.
