Launch Your Career or Build Your Workforce with a Business, Customer Service or Automotive Apprenticeship

Whether you’re looking to kick-start your own career or you’re an employer wanting to upskill your team, Peterborough Skills Academy can help.

Our apprenticeships combine real work experience with nationally recognised qualifications, delivered by supportive tutors who understand your industry.

What is an apprenticeship?

An apprenticeship is a paid job with built-in training. Apprentices work alongside experienced staff while studying towards a qualification.

In a typical week, apprentices must spend 20% of their working hours carrying out “off the job training”.  This includes attendance at a training centre such as PSA or college.

Apprenticeships are available to new recruits or existing employees who want to develop their skills.

  • Not necessarily. If you don’t already have an employer, we’ll help match you with one. Contact us and we’ll help you on your journey.

  • Yes — we accept applications year-round, depending on availability and employer placements.

  • At PSA we offer a mixture of Level 2 and Level 3 apprenticeships.

A Level 2 apprenticeship is often referred to as an intermediate level apprenticeship. It is normally agreed that it is the equivalent of 5 GCSE passes.

A Level 3 apprenticeship is known as an advanced apprenticeship and is considered to be the same as 2 passes at A-Level.

  • This depends on the type and level of apprenticeship you are studying. Our apprenticeships range from 12 months to 36 months. Please click on each apprenticeship to see their specific details.

  • There is no maximum age limit for anybody to become an apprentice. As long as you are over the age of 16, live in England and not in full time education, you are eligible to complete an apprenticeship.

  • Yes. All apprenticeships are paid — you’ll earn at least the national minimum apprenticeship wage, and often more.tion

  • Not quite. You’ll be working while you learn, and your training happens both on the job and with PSA tutors. You still get a qualification at the end.
